I couldn't wait for the summer and the warped tour. I remember it was the first time that I saw her there.  )

Dylan Lane Cunningham
Theatre Production Major & Women's Studies @ Boston University. Starbucks Barista

Dylan Lane Cunningham is 21 years old, but she still feels like she's constantly asked 'what do you want to be when you grow up?' The truth is...she doesn't know. She knows she can't work at Starbucks forever, but she also knows that her degree in theatre production (complete with a minor in women's studies) isn't going to get her too far unless she decides to move to los angeles and become a starving artist. Of course she'd love to make it big someday, maybe direct some amazing documentary that got the world talking, or the next cult zombie film, but at the same time, that doesn't feel right either. She's at the point in her life where she just wants to live. She just wants to be a free spirit and not have to worry about anything much more than keeping her GPA afloat or remembering people's coffee orders... at least for the next two years. She knows she's going to have to face the real world someday (and not the MTV version) but as far as she's concerned, that day's not today. She's just going to continue to be her and live her life how she wants to...well...that and sulk about her father's upcoming wedding.

Since Dylan was six years old, her mother hasn't been in her life. As she grew older she slowly became privy to the information that, she'd left Dylan's father for another man. None of the Cunninghams have heard from her since then. Not even the occasional birthday card, letter, or even a postcard. But she guesses it was better that way. She may not have known her mom but it made her that much closer with her dad and her sister. Her older sister Molly seemed to fall perfectly into the mother role as the two got older and as soon as they were old enough to be left alone without a babysistter, it was Molly who was cooking dinner for Dylan when their dad had to stay late at the office. And then last year their father started dating her . The 26 year old model-esque girl who's nearly half his age and older than his two daughters. Dylan openly expresses her dislike for the girl. It wasn't as if her dad hadn't dated before, but this has been a completely different situation and since Dylan the daddy's girl chose to continue to live at home rather than get an apartment near the Boston University Campus with her childhood best friend, she's had to deal with them living together and being all mushy on a daily basis. The wedding is set for September 18 and Dylan is just happy that school is back in session so she'll be around the house less often.

While she hates the thought of being around the newlyweds though she's starting to wonder whether it's the time to finally get out on her own and break away from the nest a little bit. As independent as Dylan is in most respects she feels a sense of security being close to her father. Nobody really knows this but she's afraid that he's going to end up leaving her just like her mother did. But that part of her that is anxious to break free and continue to be that carefree spirit is beginning to prod her to cut at least part of the ties and move out on her own. Of course, that would first involve FINDING said apartment. And who wants to do that when there are reruns on TV and downtime is meant for sketching out screenplay ideas for that great hit that's going to give her something to do in the future.

Maybe she'll start looking for apartments and maybe she won't. Dylan's summer mostly consisted of working at a starbucks near the university and bugging the interns at Edward Jones Investors when she goes in to bring her dad lunch every day, spending time with her sister, or trying to avoid the wedding plans as much as possible. There are plans brewing in her head for an epic road trip sometime over winter break but first she needs to find someone just as spontaneous as she could be to hit the road with her and explore for a couple weeks. She's stuck in the middle right now she feels. Life is at a stand still and she just needs a little more adventure. Or maybe...she just needs to get out of the city she's been in her entire life.
